- Wesch - 29.10.2003 Hi Groovyjay Wow, great rims. What make are they, torque thrust ? I wonder if those whould look good under my 68 ? Too bad, I can't try them out. Did you ints^tall them yourself ? How did you work out if they will fit ? Isn't it risky to order those rim and tire combo without being sure it all fits ? I found it being rather difficult to get realy positive answers on how big all can be mounted without cutting up the body. Nice car. Günther - 454Big - 29.10.2003 Jani, wow what a masterpiece!!! I only had the chance to view your forum pics and will look at the other linked ones later today. This is an extreme Vette and I followed your workpath for quite a while - good to hear from you and to see how things are proceeding now. My respect for your work!!! My project is currently a little bit stuck because of low temperatures - makes painting the underbody quite a mess..... You may search for "hui buh...." in the C 3 section of the forum. This is almost the latest status. Keep on the good work! - groovyjay - 30.10.2003 Zitat:Original von Frank Dragun So what was the original wheel tyre combo? I thought they used to havej 7" wide steel wheels with 225/70/15 tires, and that would be 27.4016 inches. Even with 215/70/15 it would still be close to 27". What am I missing here? Have I received false information at some point? ![]() Thanks Frank for sharing your knowledge with me ![]() - groovyjay - 30.10.2003 Zitat:Original von hape Thanks! ![]() - groovyjay - 30.10.2003 Zitat:Original von Wesch Thanks Gunther. yes the wheels are TT IIs all around. I can't see why they wouldn't look good on your 68. I took some measurements before I placed my order, these wheels had to be custom made, so no refund if they wouldn't have fit right. The biggest wheel that can be mounted on a C3 Corvette with OFFSET trailing arms, backspacing is 5.25" Biggest tire is 305, this a fact! ![]() - groovyjay - 30.10.2003 Zitat:Original von 454Big Thanks Frank, long time no talk! My friend moved to Frankfurth last month and she's been asking me to come visit, and I just might do that. I think would be great to see some German Vetteheads on the same trip. ![]() - Frank the Judge - 30.10.2003 Zitat:7" wide steel wheels with 225/70/15 tiresThe very original size was 6.70V15 - something like 185 to 195/70/15 on a 6,5 inch steel wheel. Do not forget this is 40 years ago and not comparable with the C3. To avoid any misunderstanding I currently drove down to my garage and messured the tires. ---> original tire 63,5 cm diameter ---> my current tires 64 cm diameter Greetings - groovyjay - 30.10.2003 Zitat:Original von Frank Dragun Yup, you are absolutely spot on! Thanks for that piece of information, with the195/70/15 the diameter is 25.748" With 235/40/18 the actual diameter would be 25.4" which is even less than stock! Well, anyway thanks again! ![]() - 454Big - 30.10.2003 Zitat:My friend moved to Frankfurth last month and she's been asking me to come visit, and I just might do that. Will PN you my phone#'s - I live close by the Frankfurt Main Airport (~40 km) We can have a talk on our UK experiences and dine at an Indian restaurant?! ![]() - Frank the Judge - 30.10.2003 Hoh hoh hoh ![]() Jani: When I was working on his cars he was inviting me to McDonald's!!! So do not wonder if Franky is guiding you to a Scottish/American Restaurant and his behaviour is very East-Indian this scrappy ... ![]() ![]() |
