How did you manage to mount the C6 shifter-knob on your C5?

My Hurst shifter arm had to be shortened, and drilled (at a machine shop) for the Torx screw that holds the Knob to the arm. C6 knob has no thread. Had it reskinned in the same leather as the seats etc.
