Hallo
Hier die Antwort von Jim Shea:
I sent your eMail to some engineering friends at Nexteer, (formerly Saginaw Steering Gear.) The dimmer pivot system used on the 1979 Corvette steering columns is not strong enough to attach any type of "cross-over" type arm to the right side. They suggest that you utilize an independent switch and not connect to the dimmer pivot. Their comments follow:
--------------
"For sure, the '79 should not be modified, we had issues with broken dimmer pivots on T&Ts, and the non-tilt wasn't much stronger. So my logic would be if he has to buy an external switch for the 79, get two, and do the same to the 71.."
----------------------
If you have a 1971 with a standard (non-adjustable column) the turn signal lever attaches to the plastic turn signal switch. I would not recommend any cross-over arm attaching to plastic.
If you have a 1971 with a T&T there is a metal post that the turn signal lever screws into. It may be strong enough for a cross-over arm.
However, I would suggest that the more straight forward approach would be to have the same external turn signal switch system in both cars and not mess with attaching to the production column mechanism.
